What does “Like-for-Like” mean?A “like-for-like” vehicle is one that closely matches the make and model of the car involved in your not-at-fault accident. If an exact match isn’t available, we’ll work with you to find a suitable alternative that fits your lifestyle and requirements.

Am I liable for damages if I have an accident in the replacement vehicle?Please notify us immediately if the replacement vehicle is involved in an accident. Under the terms of your rental agreement, you won’t be liable for damage costs if: • You report the accident to us right away • You provide all required details (including time, location, and third-party information) within 24 hours • The driver is fully licensed and listed on the rental agreement Failure to meet these conditions may result in you being responsible for a $880.00 policy excess.

Do I need to refuel the car before returning it?Yes. All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned the same way. A refuelling charge will apply if the car is returned with less fuel.

Are pets allowed in the replacement vehicle?No pets are allowed in our vehicles. A cleaning fee will be charged if this policy is breached. Assistance animals are permitted—please contact us to make arrangements.

Can I smoke in the replacement vehicle?No. Smoking is strictly prohibited in our cars. A $330 cleaning fee will be charged if this policy is violated.

Why do you collect my credit card details if I’m not at fault?We request your credit card details to cover possible incidental charges such as: • Refuelling • Tolls and fines • Cleaning • Excess wear and tear • Damage not covered by the agreement • Administration fees These charges are only applied if applicable.

What are my responsibilities as the not-at-fault driver?If you're not at fault and meet all terms of our agreement, you won’t be charged for the rental. However, you are still responsible for costs like: • Fuel • Tolls and related fees • Fines for traffic or parking violations • Cleaning if the car is returned dirty • Damage costs if you breach the rental agreement You may also need to assist with the recovery process by providing documents or statements.

How long can I keep the replacement vehicle?You can keep the vehicle while your car is being repaired. If your car is declared a total loss, the vehicle can remain with you until your insurance settlement is finalised. Vehicle is to be returned to KarSwitch within 24 hours of the settlement reaching your account.

What documents do I need to apply for a replacement vehicle?You’ll need to provide: • Your contact details and a copy of your driver’s licence • At Fault Drivers details and a copy of their driver’s licence • Registration and insurance details for both vehicles involved • Accident information. (Date, Time, Location, Incident description, how many vehicle involved) • Details of any witnesses

Who is ineligible for a replacement vehicle?You may be ineligible if: • You can’t provide details of the at-fault driver • The at-fault driver is uninsured • You were at fault • The at-fault driver was impaired or unfit to drive / suffered medical episode • The crash didn’t involve a second vehicle Contact our team for a full eligibility check.

Can I schedule a replacement vehicle for a future repair date?Yes. If your repair appointment is in the future, you can apply now. Once approved, we’ll deliver the vehicle to your repairer so it’s ready when you drop off your car.

What are my obligations under the KarSwitch agreement?You must: • Act in good faith and cooperate with us • Help us recover rental costs from the at-fault party • Provide all required documents promptly • Be truthful and transparent • Avoid settling or releasing the at-fault driver without our consent • Inform us as soon as repairs are complete or a total loss is confirmed

Why do I need to cover fuel and tolls if I’m not at fault?Even though you’re not at fault, these are running costs you would normally pay when driving your own vehicle. The at-fault insurer won’t reimburse these expenses.

What if my vehicle is registered for GST?If the car is used for business purposes and is GST-registered, the business owner may be responsible for the GST portion of the rental.

Can I add another driver to the agreement?Yes, an additional driver can be added. You’ll need to provide their full name and a copy of their driver’s licence (front and back). Please contact our team for assistance.

Can I get a loan car if the vehicle is owned by a business?Yes. Businesses that are not at fault in an accident may be entitled to a replacement vehicle during the repair period or until the vehicle is declared a total loss.

What if the at-fault driver has no insurance?If the at-fault driver is uninsured, we may not be able to assist. You should contact your own insurer in this case.

What if the at-fault driver denies responsibility?If there’s a dispute over fault, we can’t provide a replacement vehicle until liability is confirmed. We’ll reach out to the at-fault driver’s insurer to verify the status of the claim.

What if my car can’t be driven after the accident?If you are not at fault and your vehicle is undrivable, we can arrange a tow for you at no cost. Depending on availability and liability confirmation, we may also be able to deliver a loan car directly to the scene.

I don’t have insurance—can I still get a replacement vehicle?Yes. Even if you're uninsured, you're entitled to a replacement vehicle under Australian law as long as you’re not at fault.

I’ve made a claim with my own insurer, but I don’t have hire car coverage. Can KarSwitch still help?Yes, if you’re not at fault and meet our criteria, we can assist even if your policy doesn’t include a hire car.

Can KarSwitch help drivers under 25 years old?Yes. If you're under 25 and not at fault, and you meet our eligibility requirements, we can provide you with an accident replacement vehicle.
